Rock & Chips [2010]

This is a prequel to the famous British sitcom Only fools and horses. In my opinion this is the best sitcom ever, and it is a shame that Steve Carell is trying to do an American version of this masterpiece. It is going to be an abomination and i think that this is just another in the long line of failed attempts to remake British comedies (Death at the funeral). Luckily nothing happened with this project so we are safe, at least for now. Regarding Rock & Chips, you will find this movie pretty boring, dull and unfinished if you haven’t seen the original series. The reason why I’m even reviewing it is to get you to check out Only Fools And Horses, it is fucking brilliant.

In Rock & Chips we follow young Trotter family. Del is just a young lad, as well as all his friends and Rodney is not even born yet. The movie deals with the conditions in which Trotters lived and it is not all fun and laughs but it is rather serious and dramatic at the moments. Of the original actors from the series only Nicholas Lyndhurst is in this movie as Freddy The Frog. You might say that they tried to make some more money based on a huge fan base or do a test run for a reboot, but that doesn’t really matter now. So just sit  back, relax and enjoy in this great flick.

Fun Stuff: Nicholas Lyndhurst, who played Rodney Trotter in the original series “Only Fools and Horses….” (1981) plays Freddie ‘The Frog’ Robdal in this series, who was Rodney’s biological father.
