Sometimes, just sometimes, mainstream waters are very comfortable and relaxing to thread in. A long history of failures in an off-on relationship between video games and movies is starting to be forgotten with more and more movies that are either based on video games or use them in a story very well. Retro gaming is very popular now with the whole hipster scene and the rest of the gaming community. Small teams that more than often consist of only one programmer are making games with great ideas and gameplay, and that brings us to the eighties and nineties and the popular arcades. Anyone who has spent a part of his childhood (maybe not just childhood..) playing these arcade games may shed a few manly tears while watching this movie.
Wreck-it Ralph is a video game character in a game Wreck-It Ralph, where he wrecks the building and then Fix-It Felix repairs the damage with his magical hammer (giggity). This is just one in a number of games in an arcade, where kids can play violent shooters similar to Call Of Duty, racing games similar to Mario Kart and many others. Did you ever wonder what happens after the arcade closes and everyone goes home? Well, you will find out in this movie, where they Toy-Storied that idea. To all the characters the game is a job, same as any other, and when everyone leaves they can relax and live like any regular people, of course according to their game character. Wreck-It Ralph, what with him being an evil villain, is forced to live in a dump while Fix-It Felix gets to have cake and a medal. Tired of this, Ralph decides to gets himself a medal and on this journey meets Vanellope with a similar fate… Two of them will try change their fates, and will they succeed is up to you to find out…
Beautifully animated and filled with characters from popular video games like Street Fighter, Pacman and Super Mario, this movie managed to hit both the old gamers and new gamers and as a bonus, even someone who never played games in their lives will find the animation and the story interesting. As always voice casting hit the spot with John C. Reilly as Ralph and Sarah Silverman as Vanellope, and with such a humorous and well written script this movie is a pleasure to watch both for adults and kids. Many of the reviewers scorned it for violence, but thats just nitpicking, as you will see more violence and blood if you turn on the TV or just look outside the window…

Fun Facts: King Candy’s safe is secured with a Nintendo Entertainment System controller. The password he enters (UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A, START) is a common cheat code used by game developer Konami in most of their titles, most famously in the game Contra.
