If you’re looking for that perfectly cheesy and charmingly B-movie entertainment look no further than Evil Toons. Directed by the legend of the genre Fred Olen Ray (Girl with the Sex-Ray Eyes, Super Ninja Bikini Babes…) this movie is hilarious. It has everything that you could ask for from this type of production: nudity (a lot of nudity), bad acting, bad script, and bad special effects. However, all of this resulted in one hell of a movie that will effortlessly keep your eyes peeled on the screen. Although I will have to admit that the final third is a bit duller than expected.
Whether you watch it alone, where you can appreciate the hot naked babes alone, or in a company where beer and/or weed is compulsory (I don’t need drugs to enjoy this. Just to enhance it) this movie is something that will make you laugh. This is not one of those unintentionally bad movies, but something that is created to be bad, and with that in mind we can only appreciate it more. Not to mention the fact that our four stars are actually porn stars. And since they had no problems with nudity, we’ll be seeing a lot of it.
However, we will remain civilized and there will be no intercourse or anything like that. I think that all four of them did a terrific job along with two legends who will make a brief appearance in Evil Toons. And I’m talking about Dick Miller and David Carradine. Oddly enough, David hangs himself at the beginning of this movie while in real life he died after an erotic asphyxiation incident.
When Gideon Fisk accidentally does something with some ancient book (which looks exactly the same as the one from Evil Dead) something happens. And the book ends up in the cellar of his house. Fast-forward many decades and we are in the year 1992. Four young college girls are getting ready to do some house cleaning. What they don’t know is that the house they’re going to be cleaning hides a dark secret. A dark secret located in the cellar, the place they’re going to have clean from top to bottom.
Our four brave girls are all attending Miskatonic University, a fictional place that first appears in H. P. Lovecraft’s 1922 story Herbert West–Reanimator. It’s little details like this that make me love this movie even more. It’s a true testament to the spirit of moviemaking as it was shot by using “short ends” or leftover film from other, bigger productions.
Now, the circumstances in which I saw Evil Toons were simply perfect. I was a horny teenager flipping through channels late at night and accidentally stumbled upon the opening credits. And yes, Monique Gabrielle as Megan was my favorite character. Finally, I just want to add that there’s certain honesty and rawness in this movie that I found very endearing.
I felt the same about Frankenhooker and Re-Animator. Speaking of animation, while those scenes are brief, they look campy enough to be really entertaining. Just like this movie.
