Underwater [2020]
I must report that Underwater turned out to be a pretty solid science fiction movie with a couple of gimmicks that ultimately pushed it towards a solid eight.
Closed Environment Movies
All the movies listed below take place in a building, house, room, or any other similar environment. Some of these movies are single-location movies but not all of them. There’s something about this setting that induces a sense of claustrophobia and suspense. You feel trapped along with the characters in this pressure cooker that could explode any minute.
The Pack [2015]
To complete the list of animals that can attack and kill you in Australia, The Pack adds vicious and bloodthirsty wild dogs. This is an effective little horror movie featuring a family trapped on their farm by, you guessed it, a pack of wild dogs.
The House of the Devil [2009]
Moody and atmospheric, The House of the Devil is a slow-burning horror with extremely strong eighties vibes. Written and directed by very talented Ti West, The House of the Devil is not a horror movie for everybody.
Donkey Punch [2008]
The best thing about Donkey Punch is that it’s just so damn entertaining. This is a is a thriller with an interesting story, realistic atmosphere and good acting
The Babysitter [2017]
If you’re hungry for those old school and bloody slashers of the eighties, The Babysitter will satisfy all your murderous desires. It’s delightfully blood-squirting gory, sexy and pacy, with a lot of humor.
The Rift [1990]
If you’re a fan of eighties underwater movies check out The Rift, a charmingly stereotypical movie with decent practical effects and good pacing.
Shakma [1990]
Shakma would be just another cheesy B movie slasher from the eighties if it were not for its main star, a killer baboon who will scare the shit out of you!
Crawl [2019]
Fast-paced, happening in real-time, and taking place during a hurricane, Crawl is one of those mindlessly entertaining movies. But with alligators.
The Possession of Hannah Grace [2018]
Creepy and effective, The Possession of Hannah Grace is an engaging horror movie with sleek visuals and an unsettling atmosphere set in a morgue.
The Corpse of Anna Fritz [2015]
If you give The Corpse of Anna Fritz just five minutes, it will prove that it’s worth watching. With an unsettling and intense atmosphere, it’s a must-see.
Let Us Prey [2014]
This underrated atmospheric horror movie set in a police station has a good cast, realistic characters, and religious motives. What more to want?
12 Angry Men [1957]
If you like courtroom dramas and crime movies check out 12 Angry Men. It is flawlessly written and acted, but more importantly still very current.
