The wait is finally over and in just two months, we will have the opportunity to check out Great White, a promising shark attack movie. Of course, this is an Australian movie with great production values and awesome cinematography. You can check out the trailer to see how it looks and feels. On the other hand, you really don’t have to as it will spoil the story. And I think you already know if you’re going to watch this movie. We follow a group of friends enjoying a peaceful flight over the beautiful Hell’s Reef. However, soon they will find themselves in trouble. What ensues is a battle for survival with one of nature’s most formidable predators, a Great White shark. And not just one, but many.
As you probably know, we here at Rabbit Review are a fan of shark movies. So, if you haven’t already, you can check out our list of Good Shark Movies and a philosophical analysis of a cult classic Jaws. Finally, you might as well take a look at an in-depth examination of the genre in The Rise and Fall of Shark Movies. After this shameless self-promotion let’s get back to our latest addition to the family. Great White features incredibly beautiful nature and it’s worth seeing just for that reason alone. Not to mention, believable and very well done special effects. The only unknown is how far are they willing to go with the gore. And is there going to be melodrama? Hopefully, the answers are all the way and no.
The plot seems similar to The Reef, one of the best shark movies out there. Although, there’s not much wiggle room when it comes to this genre. I mean, I would love to see a creative movie with sharks, but I think we will have to wait a long time for that. Great White is set for release on July 16, 2021, on VOD platforms and selected theaters. It stars Katrina Bowden, Te Kohe Tuhaka and Tatjana Marjanovic. It also marks a directorial debut for commercial director Martin Wilson. Judging from what we had to see in the trailer, he’s done a fine job.
I for one would like to welcome our sea overlords as they symbolize the return to the normal way of life. The summer is just starting and we already have our shiny new shark movie.
UPDATE!!! The movie is out and you can read more about in our review here: Great White 2021.
