Opapatika is a very strange name for a movie and it will stick with you long after you have saw it. It has a decent production values so the special effects and the feel of the movie are good. Director was not afraid to show skulls split open and other gory stuff, making this squirting flick more interesting. You can see the similar approach in Tokio Gore Police, but with a lower budget. Opapatika is a Thai movie that used some of the Buddhist belief system to set up the story. This gave additional depth for international viewers and something familiar for Thai audiences. You can also expect some really well choreographed fighting scenes. Suffering from the infamous style-over-substance syndrome, Opapatika needs a second part or a remake.
The whole story is very original and I liked; it’s bound to be redone in America. So as you will see in the beginning of the flick, there is another world, a very strange world where beasts, man, and Opapatike live together. Various souls who have died in many ways coexist peacefully, but that is about to change when one man’s quest for immortal life jeopardizes the lives of the remaining Opapatike. Opapatike are like superheroes, they have individual super powers that they use with a price they have to pay. The only problem with the flick is that the director got lost in the action and fighting sequences, losing the storyline in senseless slaughter. It`s still a good movie :D Enjoy…
