EuroTrip 2004 Movie Scene Scott Mechlowicz as Scotty, Jacob Pitts as Cooper and Travis Wester as Jamie trying Absinthe for the first time

EuroTrip [2004]

I vividly remember how much this movie blew me away the first time I saw it. EuroTrip is a vibrant and outrageous road comedy that will spark that sense of adventure and feeling of being alive. You would want to go out streaking or get shitfaced and have something to remember when you get older. As I was watching it for the first time I was alone and yet I kept turning my head in sheet joy almost screaming are you seeing this! And the action starts almost right away! Two minutes in and we already have our first hilarious line of dialogue.

EuroTrip stood the test of time and it’s still just as good as it came out. It’s refreshing and offers a very different setting than all of the other raunchy comedies of that decade. Sure, Roadtrip is a funny movie but it’s still taking place in the United States. As its title suggests, with EuroTrip we will visit a lot of different European countries and find ways to have fun in each and every one of them.

Now, I do know about National Lampoon’s European Vacation but that’s a 1985 PG-13 movie. I think that the only other raunchy teen comedy that’s also set in Europe is BeerFest. I still don’t get it why there are so few movies like this. All we seem to be getting are these horror movies with vacations from hell. I think that the perfect example is Turistas.

With a runtime of just ninety minutes, EuroTrip is pacey and engaging. The humor is not as toilety as it is in the American Pie franchise but it still packs quite a punch. Of course, you can count on loads of sex jokes and even some nudity. It’s also updated to 21st century standards so you have our main guy sliding into certain sexy German’s dms. The problems he has are the problems that have been plaguing young people since the dawn of time making the whole story very relatable.

Scotty is a strapping young lad who just finished high school. He’s young, good-looking, and in love with his beautiful girlfriend Fiona. However, after she dumps him, Scotty, in a spur of the moment decision, decides to travel to Europe in search of love. His best friend Cooper will join him on this journey that’s bound to be fun, exciting, and memorable.

My favorite part of the whole movie is their visit to Eastern Europe. Everything was just perfect, the setting, characters, atmosphere, literally everything! And things haven’t changed much since then so you can still visit these countries and have a great time on a buck. Although I just remembered the fucking train ride which was also very memorable. And the scene with Matt Damon was also funny as hell. Yes, Matt Damon is in this movie and you’ll hardly going to recognize him!

Our young cast did a terrific job and I find it really hard to single out anyone. Okay, okay, if you’re going to twist my arm, I have to mention my crush for many years, infinitely cute Michelle Trachtenberg as Jenny. And the supporting cast was also just sublime oftentimes effortlessly stealing the show. I will never forget some of them.

I guess I’m a bit biased here since this is my generation’s raunchy sex comedy. Every time I watch it, I have a good time. Especially if I’m under the influence since this is one of those Stoner Movies perfect for those nights when you want something lively and engaging. And be sure to watch the unrated version. Although it’s just two minutes longer, those two minutes will make a world of difference.

Finally, if you’re looking for movies like EuroTrip, I recommend you check out Rat Race, Sex Drive, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, Miss March, Fanboys, and We’re the Millers. Now, I think that should keep you busy for a couple of days. And remember, you can always come back and browse the entire Subversive Rabbit Comedy section. Enjoy and don’t do anything I wouldn’t!
