Gnomeo & Juliet [2011] Movie Review Recommendation

Gnomeo & Juliet [2011]

Well, after quite gloomy movie An American Crime, lets move on to something more cheerful. Gnomeo & Juliet is another flick featuring modernized stories that were written a long time ago (I would like to forget the first 15 minutes of Gulliver’s Travels, but the movie is so awful that it’s really hard to do such a thing). So we have an updated story about the hatred between two families and love between their younger members Romeo (in this case Gnomeo) and Juliet (because Gnuliet sounds really disgusting). In this movie the setting is quite creatively a garden filled with garden gnomes that come alive when no one is watching. Directed by an experienced Kelly Asbury this movie is pretty good, with that charming British humor and quite a cast.

So, I guess you all know the story, Gnomeo and Juliet are the couple, but in this movie there are a lot of cute and interesting side characters that lighten up the atmosphere and provide a decent amount of good jokes. There’s not a lot of content for adults in Gnomeo & Juliet so the target audience is quite young. However, that does not mean that we, a bit older, will not be able to find it funny or interesting. The animation quality is superb, and with cast that consists of such names as Ozzy Osbourne, Maggie Smith and Jason Statham fun is guaranteed. Enjoy.
