One of the lesser-known raunchy teen comedies out there, Miss March, is one of those movies that you shouldn’t over-analyze. It’s directed and written by Zach Cregger and Trevor Moore, members of The Whitest Kids U’ Know sketch group. And it’s completely over-the-top. Their young age proved to be a plus in this sex-driven comedy, as they were able to accurately portray everything that happens in that messy period of your life.
Now, Miss March is not a great movie, it’s a little above that passing grade. However, if you’re looking for some decent road-trip comedy and you have already seen Road Trip, Harold & Kumar, Sex Drive, EuroTrip, and Detroit Rock City, this is a movie for you. Especially if you like toilet humor. And I mean, who doesn’t? Granted, they seem much worse when they don’t hit the target, but that’s the risk I’m willing to take.
We all remember when we first dabbled with pornographic content and the same can be said for Eugene and his best friend Tucker. Two of them accidentally stumbled upon a Playboy magazine when they were eight and it influenced them. It influenced them profoundly. Now eighteen years old, Tucker is still a horndog, while Eugene has taken a different path. Along with his girlfriend Cindi he’s a public speaker on the subject of abstinence. However, what’s about to happen will change everything…
As you probably figured out from the summary, the story here is pretty zany. You can see how they structured the movie, in a bigger sense, with all the concept variations pumped up to the max. To the max. We have sex and abstinence, life and death (coma), “nice girls” and sluts, and so on. Critics and viewers panned Miss March, probably disgusted by the aggressive humor and triggers that have to be present when we’re talking about sex. So don’t let the low IMDb rating fool you.
Another thing that must have influenced the rating is the budget that wasn’t big. However, you can barely notice this during the movie because there is always something happening. Something you can get away with if you’re making a fast-paced comedy. And finally, I couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of nostalgia as porn magazines are now a thing of the past.
