You motherfucking fuckitty fuck Jordan Peele! Fidgety little fuckitty fuck. Where have you been all my life? All my liiiifffeeeee… In my peripheral vision, I registered Key and Peele, never getting around to check the show out. The same goes for Keanu [2016] that I will most definitely see after this masterpiece. And yes, this is a horror written and directed by Jordan Peele who mostly worked on comedies so far. However, this is not your usual horror movie, since there are a decent amount of comedy and thriller parts and all that is glued together with great directing and engaging atmosphere.
There will be a wave after wave of that tingling sensation in your head. Don’t worry, that’s Mr. Peele licking the fuck of your brain clitoris. Starting with the first scene, everything in this movie was perfect, but the pacing left me wondering how he could have done it in a first go? Very original and refreshing, Get Out could start a new wave of horror/thriller movies with strong storytelling and atmosphere abandoning the jump-scare trend that has dominated the genre for the last decade.
Chris Washington is a young and very talented photographer enjoying his life along with his hot girlfriend Rose. After four months of dating, Rose suggests that the two of them visit her parents. Chris is reluctant because he thinks that they will not like him because he’s black. Rose convinces him that he’s just being paranoid and the two of them get going. Along the way they will meet a racist cop, but will her parents be racists is up to you to find out.
The current racial tensions in the USA were only a conduit for the popularity of the movie, not the movie itself. Jordan stepped up and made a movie about race that’s not about race but somehow it still is. This is because race and all that other shit is a consequence of one world view, primarily tribal while he was working with another, rational world view. We are all tribal motherfuckers and it takes an effort to remain rational, especially in this world. Not to bore you too much with philosophy, I will do that in a special rant about this movie, now it’s important to get you to see this masterpiece.
So, apart from being scary and intense, Get Out is also very funny. With great performances from Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Catherine Keener, and Bradley Whitford, none of the jokes landed flat. As a final note I would like to emphasize the characters and the bond I felt with them. Rarely I care about a character that has crossed the line of rational behavior, but in this movie, I was literally on the edge of my seat during the final third. Fuck me, go check out this movie and try to avoid trailers and other stuff about it. They will just spoil the viewing experience. And expect a rant about all the aspects pretty soon.
