Brightburn 2019 Movie Scene Jackson A. Dunn as Brandon Breyer with his eyes glowing red

Brightburn [2019]

Superhero movies have flooded the scene in these past few years and you’re probably wondering why you should watch another one. Brightburn is a different type of superhero movie, refreshing and ominous. It puts a spin on the classic tale of a child from another planet. Hmmm, where have I heard this before about a child with superpowers coming to Earth? I can’t remember for the Crypton of me.

Brightburn is one of those movies you watch during the week after a hard day at work. You really can’t think straight and you’re not in any mood for experiments, so let’s go with the surest possible bet. Who knows, maybe you’ll even like it. I know I did and not just because it stars Elizabeth Banks. Its dark atmosphere and willingness to show graphic scenes are something we’re not used to seeing in these movies.

They are usually commercial and without any hints of gore. And some of the scenes here are really nasty taking even a veteran horror fan like me by surprise. With a runtime of just under ninety minutes, the movie will be over before you know it. And you’ll also forget that you’ve watched fairly quickly. So, if you’re looking for something to take your mind off things, look no further than this one.

Tori and Kyle have been trying to start a family for a while now. They haven’t had any luck but tonight, there’s something in the air. Tori hears a strange sound coming from their yard and they soon spot a strange glowing object. 12 years have passed since that night and their son Brandon is now a big boy. A big boy with some strange powers.

I like how in the opening scene a meteor falling interrupts a couple about to have sex and then fast-forward 12 years and they have a son Brandon. Like fuck it, they were trying to conceive, then a meteor falls and boom they have a superhero son. As you can notice, the story is rather thin here but they compensated for that with a pretty good atmosphere and visuals. I feel like they could’ve done more with this premise.
