Good, good, let the hate flow through you… Lucy looks like a classical commercial milking crappy mainstream movie, made only for horny men and couples who wanna make out in the theater, but only if you’re willing to actually use 10 percent of your brain. Yes, we all know that humans do not use only 10 % of their brain capacity, but does it really matter? You have to think clearly and rationally about any movie, not just this one.
For example, you can’t be watching Transformers: Age of Extinction and complain about reality or chance. “Yeah right, he threw that net and she happens to be in the car, and then he lets go bla bla bla”, reality went out of the window the moment you saw big-ass robots beating the shit out of each other with swords and shit. We can go even deeper and say that you have a selfish obligation to yourself to watch this movie properly, to make the most of it, and in order to do so, you have to keep your mind open. Just look at the concept and the practical applications of that concept.
Now that I hope we cleared the 10% problem, we can focus on the movie. First of all, Scarlet is not naked, so that’s a minus :) Secondly, she is extremely hot, so the two kinda cancel each other out. I would rather imagine than watch forced nudity (I guess). The effects were good, not too eye-catching and pretty much toned down, which I appreciated. What makes Lucy worth watching is the pacing that was spot on. The movie never felt boring and action sequences were glorious. So, if you’re looking for some commercial entertainment, this is a good choice.
Acting on the other hand was a bit dubious, Scarlett was a bit wooden and empty, but then again how the fuck are you supposed to be like with altered consciousness and superpowers? Morgan did his usual thing. The story was great and you could feel old Luc Besson just doing the shit he does best, creating chaos and then enjoying it.
Lucy is an action science-fiction flick with a bit sciency stuff thrown in the mix just for the taste. Now, people get offended that they even tried to make up some clever excuse for her superpowers, totally forgetting the whole genre of movies based Marvel and DC comics. Somehow Lucy seems dishonest to them, but they’re wrong, she has every right to be a superhero, you go girl!
