The Next Three Days [2010]

Russell Crowe established himself as a pretty sure thing when it comes to thrillers, so you know that he will be good, whatever role they give him. It’s funny to see someone who started as a leader of a Nazi gang (Romper Stomper) come all this way, but even then you could notice that look in his eyes. The Next Three Days is pretty much his movie, since almost all the other characters are in his shadow, and he carried it to the end. This doesn’t mean that there aren’t any good supporting roles, in fact, Brian Dennehy and Liam Neeson were quite good. Written by Paul Haggis (Million Dollar Baby, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace), who is, as you can see, pretty good at action and drama. The Next Three Days is the combination of those two, delivering a suspenseful atmosphere as well as cool action sequences when needed. From the looks of the trailer you would think that there is going to be a lot of action in this movie, but that’s not the case. Most of the action is towards the end and the rest of the movie are preparations for that action.

John Brennan is in trouble, but not as much as his wife Lara, who is accused of murder and is facing a longterm sentence in jail. John and their son are desperate, and as the trial continues more and more convinced that she is going to be taken away from them. Lara supposedly killed her boss in a parking lot, after they had an argument, and with overwhelming physical evidence proving her presence there she is looking at a maximum sentence. Left with no other options, John decides to do the only thing that he can think of, to break her out of custody. This will lead him on a journey in a world that he has never seen before, but for his wife he’s willing to do anything. Will he succeed is up to you to find out… Enjoy.
