Although it may sound a bit pompous and cringe, I simply have to quote The Wolf of Wall Street: I’m not fucking leaving! First things first, as you might have noticed, Rabbit Reviews, your favorite movie recommendation site is now Subversive Rabbit. I’ve spent the last month working on the transition and I still have a lot to do. You can read more about this in the updated About page. According to my calculations, everything will be done by August 1st when we’re going to resume our regularly scheduled programming. In case you’re new here, you might be wondering what exactly that means. And what this site is all about.
Subversive Rabbit is not your average movie review site as all the movies you can find here are the ones I consider worth watching. Think of it as a giant list of movies worth watching you can browse to your heart’s content. Starting August 1st we will be back to publishing at least one new movie recommendation/review per day offering a healthy blend of both old and new releases. Not only do I already have a lot of movies ready to go but I also have a pretty chunky backlog. Needless to say, I’ve been watching good movies throughout all of this. You can also expect a couple of new deep dives coming your way as well. After all, it’s only natural for rabbits to go down rabbit holes.
And I’m going to tell you what movies we’re going to be talking about. First up is the latest Alex Garland movie Civil War. While the movie is not that good, it explores some pretty thought-provoking issues I think are worth talking about. I’m also yet to dive into the hauntingly realistic gender dynamics of The Royal Hotel. Now, that’s a great movie, definitely worth watching. So, I suggest you check it out as soon as possible. I don’t want to bore you too much with the details and plans, it’s better to just deliver than it is to keep promising stuff. I’ll just say that I was an idiot for waiting for such a long time to check out the original Ghost in the Shell 1995.
The song The Making of The Cyborg by Kenji Kawaii is a fucking masterpiece. It’s such an immersive piece of music that I couldn’t stop listening to it for a couple of weeks. So, to sum things up, despite everything, this is one stubborn and subversive rabbit. And I’m going to keep fighting until the end. I think that Benjen Stark’s promise applies perfectly to the situation: “I’ll do what I can… as long as I can”. In the meantime, let’s see is Facebook still alive as the new Subversive Rabbit Facebook page is up and running,
